We can hardly wait for Saturday 27th April when we will be performing Haydn’s The Creation at the Sherbrooke Mosspark Parish Church under the direction of Christopher Barr, with orchestra and organ accompaniment, three professional soloists and Bridge of Weir Choral Society.

Bridge of Weir Choral Society

A word about our partnership with Bridge of Weir. To begin with ‘The Creation’ is colossal and dramatic, demanding a big chorus and by joining forces we can muster almost one hundred singers on the evening. Add to that our common love of the classical choral repertoire and the fact that Christopher Barr is MD of both choirs and the harmony begins.

While all choir members are amateur singers, we work with professional musicians to present a polished and high quality performance to our audience. Organisation is always demanding for our elected committees of volunteers, especially so when coordination of two choirs is required.

Of course we have a little bit of experience of working together. In autumn 2019, plans were afoot for another, what would have been earlier, joint project and we started rehearsals and plans for a joint concert in spring 2020. Sadly COVID19 intervened and it has taken until now to revive our working relationship.

Bridge of Weir Choral Society  was formed in 1948. It meets every week in Kilmacolm and, like Strathaven Choral, performs two concerts each year. You can learn more at them at bridgeofweirchoralsociety.org.uk
