Pandemic over and we have something to celebrate. Strathaven Choral Society has reached its fiftieth birthday. Founded in the town in 1972 by the late David Knox, we have performed every year since – except during lockdown. So 2022 is a doubly special year as in May we presented our ‘return to normal’ concert, official title: ‘The Auld Alliance’ and we are planning several events to celebrate surviving COVID19 and reaching this milestone.
We have strong roots in music, in the town and in our singers but we are ready to grow and branch out, looking for opportunities for new collaborations so it’s only fitting that our first SCS50 event will be the planting of a tree in Strathaven Park. Keep an eye out for time and date.
A princely Afternoon Tea and Tour of Dumfries House is on our autumn agenda and we’re continuing celebrations into spring 2023 with a Ceilidh for members, friends, family and supporters.
