New Year, New Interest, New Challenge!

Strathaven Choral starts off 2018 with rehearsals for our June Concert, the star item of which is the Mozart Requiem. Here, choir secretary Anne Henderson describes how you could enjoy singing with us.

Happy New Year from Strathaven Choral Society We start our new session on January 8 th , 2018 If you enjoy music why not try coming along to Strathaven Choral on Monday evenings ? We meet on Monday evenings at 7.30 in the Evangelical Church, Lethame Rd, Strathaven under our young and dynamic musical director Chris Barr ( After another successful concert night in December with the Coalburn Band, the Choral Society begins its next set of rehearsals on January 8th, heading for a special concert on June 2nd 2018. So what will be singing? We are very excited about our next project which will be Mozart’s Requiem. Have a listen on YouTube

The Choral Society last sang this work in 2004 so a number of the choir have sung the work before which will help those of us, like me, who have not! We will be, once again, part of Glasgow’s annual West End Festival performing in the lovely St Mary’s Cathedral in Great western Road on Saturday June 2nd . We performed at the West End Festival in 2013 and in 2015 so it looks like it’s becoming a regular slot. If you fancy joining us just for this work you will be most welcome and who knows you might stay for next year. Singers, male and female, are always wanted Strathaven Choral Society is a charity and active, particularly in Strathaven Hamilton and Glasgow. Singing is really fun and good for you and Strathaven Choral Society will give you a warm welcome.

You can turn up on Monday 8th January, ready to sing at 7.30pm or click to contact us now.
